“The Extra Ordinary Events of an Ordinary Man”

Robert Nickle’s first memoir, The Extraordinary Events of an Ordinary Man, was inspired by his belief that we all experience things that can only be explained by coincidence or luck. According to Nickle, he believes that these moments represent gateways into seeing the supernatural, allowing us to experience the life-changing extraordinary in the face of the ordinary. In hisbook, he shares how discovering coincidence was really God's way of performing a miracle, opening a curtain in his life.

Years ago Nickle’s concluded that God's hand had been with him throughout his Christian life. He has had five successful careers, raised a family and survived many difficult times. His Christian beliefs have lead him to paint paintings of local scenes, teach Bible Studies and preach in local churches. Nickle’s believes that God’s presence is with him daily, guiding him through his ordinary day.

A few years ago, Robert began writing stories to share with his children. The stories were about the things that formed his values and how he related to them. In the process, Nickle became aware that his life experiences were not dissimilar from those of most other people. Perhaps, like you, he is not famous, not a war hero, a prominent politician or an all-star professional athlete. He is just an ordinary man.

In the pages of The Extraordinary Events of an Ordinary Man, you will encounter some humor, some high-seas adventures and some low-seas adventures. There are a few touching stories and many that perhaps, like your own, teach us what Robert calls "life-lessons." According to Nickle, “Mine is truly the Return of the Prodigal Son story depicted in Rembrandt's painting of the same name”.

Nickle’s purpose and prayer is that as you walk through the book’s pages, you might recall the many character building extraordinary events in your life. He invites you to recall the ordinary events of your life, that may have earlier seemed ordinary, then pass them on to others.
